Experience & Credentials

I have been practicing clinical psychotherapy with individuals and couples since 2008 and I have worked within the fields of counseling, social services, and community care since 2001. My interest in these areas prompted me to pursue education and training in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada, as well as here in Los Angeles.

My career in the counseling field began in 2001, where I worked with at-risk youth in Vancouver, BC, Canada, for six years. My desire to more deeply understand the complex systemic issues impacting the individuals and communities I was working with inspired my return to academic study and professional training.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from University of Victoria, which focused on stigma, power/oppression, and the politics of recognition. I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology for Community and Educational Settings from University of Toronto and a Master’s Degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from California Southern University.

While in Toronto, I completed a clinical counseling internship at York University’s Counseling and Disabilities Center and I also provided psychotherapy services within a private practice setting for six years. During my years in private practice, I gained particular expertise for working with clients who are survivors of interpersonal and systemic abuse, oppression, and trauma.

I moved to Los Angeles in 2016. I completed a two-year clinical internship as Souther California Counseling Center and I spent a year supervising youth volunteers at Teen Line. I have been working in private practice in Los Angeles since 2018.

My academic and professional development as a therapist has been a long and inspired journey and I continue to attend and participate in trainings, workshops, and conferences to enhance my knowledge and skills. In order to continually grow, in terms of insight, perspective, and self-awareness, I have also participated regularly in individual and peer supervision throughout my career.

I am currently engaged with several grassroots initiatives providing resources, education, consultation, and advocacy for survivors and therapists with marginalized and oppressed identities and their allies.
